Instructional Video: Creating an Herb Garden
The purpose of this project was to take a Wiki-How article and translate it into an instructional video. The article chosen for this video was about starting an herb garden. The target audience was anyone interested in starting such a project. The project also allowed for the exploration of video creation, editing, and color correction techniques.
The final video above was the culmination of all the research and pre-production completed for this video. Overall I was happy with the way the video came out and it was a great learning experience.
Above are the storyboards created for the project. The overhead images were created in 3d to help visualize shot angles and composition. While shot angles changed slightly, pre-production proved invaluable in the overall creation of the video.
The learning outcomes for this project were to apply learning theory to previous versions of the video to find areas of improvement, complete the final cut using editing and audio techniques to increase effectiveness of the instructional video, and to apply video editing techniques to increase the effectiveness of an instructional video.
